NEW AND RETURNING STUDENTS COURSE OFFERINGS

PCI198: Tafsir of Short SurahsThursdays, 7pm - 8:30pm

Throughout the duration of this course, we will conduct an in-depth study of the last ten chapters of the Holy Qur’ān. Through our learning we aim to cover the essential commentary of each verse and further understand the translation of each word of these chapters.
 
This course is taught by Mawlana Ismaael Iqbal.
 
This course will run from JULY 11 to AUG 8.

PCI198: Riyad al-Salihin, Select AhadithSaturdays, 9am - 11am

This course is a survey of select ahadith of Imam Abū Zakariyyā al-Nawawī’s renowned hadith collection on virtues: Riyāḍ al-Ṣāliḥīn. The course consists of reading select narrations of the work alongside a brief commentary provided by the instructor. Through this course students will be introduced to ahadith of everyday importance, and also gain a glimpse into the beauty of prophetic traditions through guided Arabic translation and meaning.

This course is taught by Mufti Sajid Ali

This course runs from JUNE 15 to JULY 20.

PCI198: Mukhtasar Minhaj al-Qasidin I - Purifying the Inner SelfSaturdays, 11am to 12:30pm

Written by the erudite Ḥanbalī scholar, Ibn Qudāmah, this book serves as a formal manual in the science of Islamic Spirituality. Although the book covers a broad range of topics, this course will focus on the third quarter of the book which deals with treating spiritual maladies.
 
This course is taught by Shaykh Arsalan Haque.
 
This course runs from JUNE 29 to AUGUST 3.

PCI198: Mukhtasar Minhaj al-Qasidin II - Beautifying the Inner SelfSaturdays, 12:30pm to 2pm

Continuing the text of Mukhtasar Minhaj al-Qasidin, this course will delve into developing character required of a believer such as gratitude, patience, trust in Allah, love of Allah, and many more. By taking this course, students will not only walk away with an appreciation of the depth of Islamic spirituality, but also the motivation and practical steps to developing their inner self.

This course is taught by Shaykh Arsalan Haque.

This course runs from JUNE 29 to AUGUST 3. 

PCA198: Survey of Quranic ArabicSaturdays, 12:30pm to 2pm

Studying Quranic Arabic is essential towards understanding the spirit and miraculous nature of the Quran.

This course will look at the historic development of the various sciences of Arabic grammar and how they are deeply interwoven with the study of the Quran and Islam. Additionally, students will be presented with verses of the Quran showcasing their meaning through the knowledge of Arabic grammar.  Students will walk away from the course with a deeper appreciation of this noble language and be motivated to begin learning the language!

The Quran Recitation Programs

LEVEL I: The Requirements Program

[al-Ḍarūriyāt]
Focus: Qurʾān Reading / Recitation

This program is designed for students who have yet to learn how to “read”
from the muṣḥaf.

LEVEL II: The Enhancements Program

[al-Wājibāt]
Focus: Qurʾān Reading / Recitation

This program is designed for students whose goal is to recite the Qurʾān with
all the general rules of Tajwīd. Tajwīd is to recite the Qurʾān in the manner
it was recited by the Prophet Muhammad , which is necessary for every
Muslim.

LEVEL III: The Advancements Program

[al-Taḥsiniyyāt]
Focus: Qurʾān Memorization – Full-time or Part-time Program

The objective of this level is to:
1. Complete the reading of the Qurʾān under the guidance of the
instructor
2. Memorize the Qurʾān under the guidance of the instructor
3. Gain ijāzah (teaching certification) or shahādah (completion
certification) by completing the recitation of the Qurʾān (from
memory or reading), linking the reciter to the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ
