Topical Courses Program

The Topical program is a three-year program with a dedication of 1.5 instructional hours a week. This program aims to impart to students an Islamic worldview (al-mafhūm al-Islāmī) through the English language. Courses in this program revolve around key topics and themes in Qurʾān, Hadith, and Sulūk (Islamic spirituality).

Life Learner Program

The Life Learner is a six-year part-time program with a dedication of three instructional hours a week. It is designed to be Qurʾān and Hadith centric where students develop an Islamic worldview (al-mafhūm al-Islāmī) from the primary sources of the Qurʾān and Hadith in Arabic.

In the first two years, students cover the basics of Arabic Morphology (Ṣarf) and Syntax (Naḥw). In the following four years, students apply their Arabic studies to translating Qurʾān and Hadith. Students will, Allah willing, translate the entire Qurʾān and receive essential commentary required to properly understand the Qurʾānic context. Students will also translate an abridged version of the celebrated Hadith collection, Riyādh al-Ṣāliḥīn, while receiving instruction on their proper application.

Life Learner Honors Program

Similar to the Life Learner program, the Honors program is also a six-year part-time program, but with a dedication of four instructional hours a week. It is designed to provide students with an Islamic worldview (al-mafhūm al-Islāmī) from the primary sources of the Qurʾān and Hadith complimented by essential Islamic sciences in Arabic. More rigorous than the Life Learner program, students in first two years will also cover literature (Adab) with weekly Arabic composition assignments in the first two years in addition to learning Arabic Morphology (Ṣarf) and Syntax (Naḥw).

In the following four years, students apply their Arabic studies to dive into core Islamic sciences through classical Arabic texts.

A student completing this program, equipped with the fundamental concepts and terminologies of all major Islamic sciences, can liaise with Islamic scholars to bring traditional, authentic, and academic Islam to their respective fields bridging the gap between Islamic scholarship and secular sciences.

Shaykh al-Hind Program (One Year Track)

To facilitate the acquisition of Islamic knowledge in the West, Darul Qasim is offering the Shaykh al-Hind program, which allows students to begin learning their farḍ ʿayn in the Arabic language. Seeking knowledge that is necessary for salvation is farḍ ʿayn, an obligation for every Muslim. Students will receive the basics of Arabic grammar, morphology and Arabic literature four days a week, three hours a day.  Additionally students will receive an introduction to the core Islamic sciences.

The program exposes students to the vast, rich intellectual tradition of Islam to further their studies in the four year full-time Intermediate Program at Main Campus or the Life Learners Honors Program in the Branch.
