Epistemology has been defined as the study of the origin, nature, methods, and limits of human knowledge. The participants will be introduced to ancient and modern debates concerning what knowledge is and how we acquire it and how the Islamic method of acquisition of knowledge contrasts with knowledge that is not based on revelation. The introduction will be presented in two sessions.

Dr. Muhammed V.Y. Stodolsky will introduce a chronological survey of ancient and modern views on epistemology in philosophy. Shaykh Mohammed Amin Kholwadia will provide an introduction on acquisition of knowledge according to Islamic theology.
