Mawlana Kamil Uddin was born and raised in the Chicagoland area. He completed the memorization of the Qurʾān while in high school and subsequently enrolled into the ʿĀlim Program at the Institute of Islamic Education. At the Institute, Mawlana Kamil completed a formal ʿĀlimiyyah Degree.

 
After completing his hifz and ʿālimiyyah at Maʿhad Taʿlīm al-Islam (IIE) in 2011, Mawlana Kamil Uddin began to pursue and develop his passion in ʿulūm al-Qurʾān and tafsīr. For over a decade he has served as the chair of the Tafsīr Department under the guidance of Shaykh Amin Kholwadia. In this role, he has consistently written, taught, and presented on a wide array of tafsīr topics geared for both students and the general public. He also serves as program chair for the Takhaṣṣuṣ fi al-Tafsīr (Tafsir Specialization) Program at Darul Qasim College. 

Furthermore, Mawlana Kamil earned a BA in Organizational Leadership and a Master of Library and Information Science (MLIS). He is also pursuing a PhD in Information Science at Dominican University.
