Mawlana Kamil Uddin was born and raised in the Chicagoland area. He completed the memorization of the Qurʾān while in high school and subsequently enrolled into the ʿĀlim Program at the Institute of Islamic Education. At the Institute of Islamic Education Mawlana Kamil completed a formal ʿĀlimiyyah Degree. After graduating in 2011, he began educating students in the ʿĀlim Program at that very institute. For four years he taught subjects that included Arabic Grammar (Syntax and Morphology), Arabic Literature (Speech, Composition, and Rhetoric), Islamic Theology (ʿAqīdah), Principles of Islamic Jurisprudence (Uṣūl al-Fiqh), Prophetic Narrations (Hadith) and Qurʾānic Commentary (Tafsīr). Additionally, Mawlana Kamil completed a BA in Organizational Leadership from Benedictine University.
