Mawlana Abdurrehman Haji began his religious studies at Ṣuffah Educational Guidance, completing the memorization of the Holy Qurʾān in May 2005. He then began pursuing a formal ʿĀlimiyyah degree, studying at Dar al-ʿUlūm al-Madaniyyah in Buffalo, New York and then at Dār al-ʿUlūm Canada in Chatham, Ontario, where he acquired ijāzāt to transmit specific books of hadith. His ʿālim studies culminated in his traveling to study at the renowned Jāmiʿat Maẓāhir al-ʿUlūm, Sahāranpūr, U.P., India. Mawlānā Abdurrehman went on to do his post-graduate studies – takhaṣṣuṣ in Hadith – at the same institute, acquiring general ijāzāh to transmit Hadith from such respected scholars as Muḥaddith al-ʿAṣr Shaykh Yūnus aJaunpūrī, Shaykh Iftikhār al-Ḥasan Kāndhlawī, and Mufti Aḥmad Ḥasan Khān Tonkī. Upon completion of his studies he returned to Ṣuffah Educational Guidance as an instructor in their Qurʾānic studies and preparatory and foundation ʿĀlimiyyah programs.
Mawlana Abdurrehman specializes in Hadith and the principles of Hadith sciences (Uṣūl al-Ḥadith) while he has expertise in Islamic Law (Fiqh), Inheritance Law (Farāʾiḍ), Theology (ʿAqāʾid), Qurʾānic exegesis (Tafsīr), and Qurʾānic principles (Uṣūl al-Tafsīr). His interests include the Arabic language, syntax and grammar (Naḥw), morphology (Ṣarf), semantics, lexis, literature, and research on Islamic sciences. He is also fluent in multiple languages and a self-proclaimed bibliophile.
