The Weeping Willow
Knowledge is rooted firmly in the soil of Tawheed and sprouts out from underneath
it as it seeks to emerge into the world of dissemination. Then, knowledge begins
to acquire students and so its bark rises towards the sky seeking glory in the heavens.
Then, as the students of knowledge mature and realize their origin, they bow their
branches towards the soil in recongnition of their roots (Allah through Tawheed).
Then, out of awe, they start to weep and remain deidicated to their source. The objective
of Al-Qasim is to become this tree with Allah's leave.
Abdullah Ibn-Masud said:
It is important for the one who memorizes the Quran that he should recognize his nights
when poeople are asleep; his days when people are not fasting; his grief when people are content,
his weeping when people laugh (in indifference); his silence when they talk and his humbleness
when they are proud.
A bearer of the Quran should be concerned, tolerant, tranquil and lenient. He should not be
uncouth, oblivious, a loud mouth nor a difficult person.
